Friends of Chamber Music &
Heartland Young Artist Project

Friends of Chamber Music Kansas City and Heartland Chamber Music are proud to announce a joint initiative to advance music education opportunities in our community. We are excited to unveil our innovative year-round chamber music program, the "Friends of Chamber Music and Heartland Young Artist Project."

Through this collaboration, we will offer full scholarships to four select chamber music ensembles comprising piano and string students aged 12-19 from the Kansas City area.

Our participants will receive top-quality instruction, including 14 weekly coaching sessions throughout the year from our esteemed faculty. This faculty includes some of Kansas City's most renowned musicians, as well as Dmitri Atapine and Hyeyeon Park, the artistic co-directors of Friends of Chamber Music Kansas City.

In addition, participants will have the opportunity to perform in masterclasses and work with select world-renowned artists from Friends of Chamber Music Kansas City's 2023-2024 season. Participants will also perform in the program’s winter/spring chamber music recitals and live performances at Kansas Public Radio.

Furthermore, each ensemble will develop essential leadership skills by designing and presenting at least one outreach performance at a school or community organization in an underserved area of Kansas City.

The program is set to commence in September 2023, with the application process beginning in May of that same year. Please stay tuned for more details about the application process!
