“New Horizons” — a Wonderful Evening of New Music

We had a wonderful weekend of music and friendship last Saturday with the presentation of “New Horizons” — music by Chen Yi, Reena Esmail, Ellen Taafe Zwilich, Osvaldo Golijov, Valerie Coleman, and a new co-commission from David Serkin Ludwig. Phenomenal playing by Bella Hristova (violin), Sooyun Kim (flute), Ian Rosenbaum (percussion), and FCMKC Artistic Co-Directors Hyeyeon Park and Dmitri Atapine took center-stage.
Visits to UMKC Composers Forum, the UMKC Percussion Studio, and an extensive conversation with David Serkin Ludwig complemented this fabulous event.
